Katie Murray was born in Queens, New York in 1974. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of Visual Arts in 1997. In 2000, Katie completed her Masters of Fine Arts degree from Yale University School of Art. In March 2001 Katie was selected as one of PDN's thirty photographers under thirty. Katie's work has been exhibited and is collected at the Yale University Art Gallery, The Museum of the City of New York, The Dove Collection, and The Yale University Libraries as well as private collections. Publications and books include The New York Times, Fortune, Metropolis, Vice, Details, Nylon, Brotherhood, The Spirit of Family, and Beyond Compare - Women Photographers On Beauty. Katie's advertising clients include IBM, Volvo and Crest. In the Spring of 2004 Katie's work was exhibited in concurrent solo shows at White Columns, New York and Jen Bekman Gallery, New York. Katie currently resides in Queens, New York.
